Splitgate 2 Brings Back Fan-Favorite Features From Original Game

The developer reveals the return of Ranked Arena and Mastery Challenges amid player feedback and microtransaction backlash. The free-to-play sci-fi shooter is bringing back two beloved features from the original game. Developer 1047 Games confirmed that Ranked Arena and Mastery Challenges are officially in development for the sequel.

Splitgate 2 Responds to Fan Feedback

Splitgate 2 launched its full version in June 2025 after a successful beta that began in May. The beta featured 25 weapons, 15 maps, and 10 game modes. The game is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

Shortly after launch, a surprise battle royale mode was added. While many players welcomed this addition, some performance issues and bugs impacted progression and matchmaking.

1047 Games posted a development update via the official Splitgate 2 Twitter/X account, outlining top priorities. These include fixing progression bugs, improving battle royale load times, and boosting overall performance.

Ranked Arena and Mastery Challenges Return

Most notably, 1047 confirmed that Ranked Arena and Mastery Challenges are being developed. These were standout features in the first game. Mastery Challenges let players grind for camo skins tied to each weapon. Ranked Arena provides competitive players a long-term goal with skill-based matchmaking. Players responded positively to this update. One fan asked if battle royale ranked mode is also planned, and the devs replied with a simple “yes.”

Additional Features and Microtransaction Controversy

Fans also requested a career stats viewer, often referred to as “barracks.” The studio confirmed it is currently in the works. Despite the excitement, the game’s battle royale launch drew criticism for overpriced microtransactions. Bundles priced around $140 triggered backlash from the community. In response, CEO Ian Proulx acknowledged the issue, issued refunds, and slashed all microtransaction prices by 50%.

Splitgate 2 Evolves With Community Input

Splitgate 2’s early content updates and transparent communication have helped soften criticism. Returning features like Ranked Arena are giving fans more reasons to stay engaged.
