While the search for the next cinematic Bond continues, fans can look forward to 007 First Light, IO Interactive’s upcoming action-adventure game. Players can grab early in-game rewards through a new wishlist mission. IO Interactive confirmed “Project 007” back in 2020, and 007 First Light was officially revealed at Sony’s State of Play in June 2025.

An Original Story Inspired by Ian Fleming

007 First Light will deliver an original story inspired by Ian Fleming’s classic Bond tales. Players will experience Bond’s origin story, learning what made him earn his famous license to kill.

Amazon is overseeing the project after MGM Studios secured full production rights in 2024. This game also ties into the next Bond films, including a new movie by Dune director Denis Villeneuve.

Replayable Missions, Iconic Characters & Gadgets

The game promises iconic Bond characters, replayable missions with modifiers, and the legendary gadgets fans expect. Steam is now offering even more for those who wishlist the game early.

Steam’s official blog confirmed a special community mission for PC players. By wishlisting the game, players can hit four milestones and unlock exclusive rewards.

Wishlist Milestones:
1) Players can equip Bond with a unique skin and enhance their desktop with animated 007-themed wallpapers.
2) Add flair to your fieldwork with a custom gadget skin, plus stream like an agent using a bespoke overlay.
3) Unlock a Deluxe agent skin for more style, and gain access to a special developer AMA.
4) The final reward remains confidential — its contents are top secret for now…

What Fans Can Expect from 007 First Light

IO Interactive’s art director teased the game’s style and inspiration. Fans expect a stylish blend of classic Bond, Mission: Impossible-level action, and Kingsman’s choreographed combat.

With the Hitman series’ success, many trust IOI to deliver stealth gameplay, creative takedowns, and detailed maps.

Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Live-Service Future

007 First Light has a projected 2026 launch and is planned as a live-service game like Hitman. Players can expect new missions long after release.

It will also join the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup. IOI aims to improve on Hitman’s earlier Cloud release by delivering a better native experience for Switch players.
