New Resident Evil Game Features Leon, Jill, and Other Fan-Favorite Characters

One of the most celebrated horror game series of all time is heading to mobile later in 2025 with Resident Evil Survival Unit. Several playable heroes have now been revealed, exciting longtime fans of the franchise.
Resident Evil Survival Unit Announced at Anime Expo 2025
The game was officially announced at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles. The project is led by executive producer Shinji Hashimoto, a Square Enix veteran known for his work on over 20 Final Fantasy games. Since retiring in 2022, Hashimoto has continued to pitch new ideas, and Resident Evil Survival Unit is set to launch in late 2025.
Familiar Resident Evil Heroes Return
Players can expect the return of many iconic Resident Evil characters. Survivors will awaken in an abandoned hospital after being abducted by Umbrella Corp, then build squads of three heroes to face deadly challenges.

Upgrades, Abominations, and the Mysterious Merchant
Players will upgrade characters as they progress. The beloved merchant from Resident Evil 4 will also return, helping teams gear up at a mansion that serves as the main operations hub.
Horrifying monsters will be back too, with a fresh twist — legendary Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano has designed a new creature named Mortem, described as a shadowy, pale-faced threat that embodies his love of horror.
