Escape from Tarkov Announces Console Version and First Post-Launch DLC

Escape from Tarkov console version announcement

Battlestate Games has finally confirmed that Escape from Tarkov is coming to consoles. The developer also revealed the theme of the game’s first post-launch DLC, along with future plans for the Tarkov universe — including multiple new titles already in development.

Escape from Tarkov Finally Heads to Consoles

In a surprising twist, Battlestate’s Chief Operating Officer Nikita Buyanov revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2025 that Escape from Tarkov will be launching on consoles. This announcement comes months after Buyanov joked that the game would arrive on the Game Boy before consoles, a comment that left fans skeptical about a port.

While no specific release window or platforms were mentioned, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are the most likely candidates. The decision aligns with earlier comments from former developer Pavel Dyatlov, who hinted that a console version had been under consideration for years.

Given Tarkov’s complex mechanics and immersive realism, porting it to consoles will be no small feat. Still, this move opens the doors for millions of new players eager to experience the high-stakes extraction shooter beyond PC.

Scav Life – The First Post-Launch DLC

Alongside the console reveal, Battlestate also unveiled details about Escape from Tarkov’s first DLC, titled Scav Life. As the name suggests, the add-on will center around the Scav faction, giving players a deeper look into the unpredictable survival aspects of Tarkov’s underworld.

Buyanov mentioned that development on Scav Life will begin after the 1.0 launch of the game, meaning fans shouldn’t expect it before late 2026. The studio is clearly taking its time to refine the experience and expand the lore of Tarkov in meaningful ways.

More Games in the Tarkov Universe

Battlestate also confirmed that Escape from Tarkov’s universe will continue to grow. Several new games are already in pre-production, likely spin-offs designed to explore other sides of Tarkov’s world.

In addition, the studio is planning “a couple of huge events” right after the game’s full launch, including a new location for players to explore. While details remain scarce, it’s clear that Battlestate is investing heavily in turning Escape from Tarkov into a long-term franchise rather than a single release.

Tarkov’s Future Looks Strong

With Escape from Tarkov set to leave beta and finally arrive on Steam this November, excitement around the title is higher than ever. The upcoming console version, the promise of Scav Life, and talk of new spin-offs all signal that the franchise is gearing up for an explosive future.

Battlestate has managed to keep its community engaged for over eight years — and now, with this new wave of content, Escape from Tarkov could become one of the most expansive extraction shooter universes ever built.
