PS6 Handheld Console Could Feature Dockable Design

A new leak suggests that Sony’s upcoming PS6 handheld console may support docking for enhanced performance. On August 27, a well-known gaming leaker claimed the portable PS6 could connect to a TV. It will also operate at higher clock speeds when docked.
The leak compared the proposed dock to Nintendo Switch 2’s design. According to the claims, the PS6 handheld could run at 1.2GHz in portable mode and boost to nearly 1.65GHz when docked. This setup may also allow the handheld to deliver more than twice the ray tracing performance of the PS5 while docked.
Rumored Specs of the PS6 Handheld
The handheld version, reportedly codenamed “Canis,” is said to feature a 6-core AMD Zen 6 processor paired with RDNA 5 integrated graphics. It could also offer backward compatibility with both PS5 and PS4 titles.
The leaker claimed the PS6 handheld could offer 60% more computational bandwidth than the ROG Xbox Ally X. That rival device is powered by the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. Rasterization performance may still be slightly weaker than the PS5. Future patches could improve this when optimized for the PS6 handheld.
Next-Gen Console Competition Heats Up
While no official confirmation has been made by Sony, speculation continues to grow around both the PS6 and Microsoft’s next Xbox. Reports suggest both consoles will launch in 2027 and will use AMD technology for the third generation in a row.
If these leaks prove accurate, the PS6 handheld may become a strong competitor in the next console cycle. However, until Sony reveals official details, these claims should be taken cautiously.
