The Witcher 3 Gets Cross-Platform Mod After 10 Years

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, The Witcher 3 is adding a major feature. cross-platform mod support is coming later this year. The feature will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While PC players have enjoyed mods for years, this is the first time console users will join in. CD Projekt Red announced that creating and sharing mods will now be easier than ever. This update will make mods more accessible to the entire community.

How Console Modding Will Work Using mod.io

This new modding feature is powered by mod.io, a free service for sharing user content. Console players will need to create a mod.io account and link it to their CD Projekt Red account. PC players can still use existing modding services and aren’t forced to switch. Not every PC mod will be available on consoles. Each platform will have its own mod guidelines and content restrictions. CD Projekt Red will reveal more details about supported mods later this year.

CD Projekt developer Phillip Weber thanked the team and community for making this milestone possible. He said it was once a dream that has now become reality. In more exciting news, The Witcher 3 has now sold over 60 million copies. It remains one of the best-selling games of all time. Revenue from the game has reached around $640 million USD. CD Projekt Red is also working on The Witcher 4. The next game will begin a brand-new trilogy in the series. They’re also developing Cyberpunk 2 alongside this new saga.
