Xbox and PlayStation Are Advertising Each Other’s Games

The official Twitter accounts for Xbox and PlayStation are now advertising each other’s games. Xbox features Helldivers 2 on its banner, while PlayStation is showcasing Gears of War: Reloaded. This unexpected move highlights how the long-time rivals are shifting toward a more collaborative future.
Xbox and PlayStation Rivalry Over the Years
Few rivals in gaming history have clashed as much as Xbox and PlayStation. Since Microsoft entered the gaming market with the original Xbox, the companies have often fought for dominance. Both brands traded blows with console exclusives and major game launches across multiple generations. However, the rivalry may finally be softening.
The Shift Toward Cross-Platform Gaming
Console exclusivity once kept fan-favourite franchises locked to a single platform. Yet, the walls between Xbox and PlayStation have slowly eroded in recent years.
For example, Forza Horizon 5 arrived on PlayStation 5 earlier this year and quickly became one of the console’s best-selling games. Similarly, Helldivers 2, once tied to PlayStation, launched on Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, Gears of War: Reloaded, originally a major Xbox series, is now available on PS5.
These releases show how the industry is embracing cross-platform gaming.

Fans recently spotted a surprising update on social media. The official Microsoft Xbox Twitter account displays key art for Helldivers 2, while the Sony PlayStation Twitter page now highlights Gears of War: Reloaded.
Even more surprising, Xbox has pinned the release announcement for Helldivers 2 at the top of its profile. Considering that both titles were once tightly controlled exclusives, this marks a significant shift in how the companies approach competition.
